Sorry for the last minute event notice but just found out someone could host this meetup at the annual Burns' event we have been meaning to attend for year.
The Schlafly's Burns' Night Festival will take place at the Schlafly Tap Room on Thursday, January 23rd, from 5 pm to 9 pm in celebration of Robert Burns' birthday, the Scottish poet and ploughman most famous for his poem “Auld Lang Syne.”
The customs of this event include pipers piping Celtic music, soul-warming Scottish food, nostalgia, satire, and a poem readi by Tom Schlafly. Plaid kilts are optional. The Parade of Pipers and Tom Schlafly's annual poem will begin at 5:45 pm.
Schlafly Scotch Ale will be flowing both on draft and in cans. Burns' Night is a free event, and tables will be sat first come. You may begin arriving for Burns' Night at 4 pm for table seating or walk-up service in our North and South bars.
We likely won't be there early enough for a table but will post our location on this event once we arrive. If you are able to get there early and grab a table, post details in this meetup.
Make sure to check out the past events list for additional 49 events that were cross-posted with the St. Louis Young Progressionals meetup.
2nd Shift Brewing is celebrating its 15th anniversary and we're going to help!
They've asked 15 other breweries to help share in the fun.
All Access tickets are on sale for $50. This gives you unlimited samples. Buy tickets online. They will also sell sampling tickets at the door for $3 a ticket. Entry is free.
See the 2nd shift event page for more details.
Hope to see you there!
Narrow Gauge has been one of our favorites for IPAs since they opened in 2016 (our first meetup there was in July 2016!). Their original location was in a 1,700 sq. ft space in the basement of Cugino's restaurant. Narrow Gauge beers are the most coveted IPAs from our region and being so close to the airport, the brewery is usually the first and/or last stop for craft beer fans flying into or out of St. Louis.
In 2021, they started construction of a new brewery at a 8,200 sq. ft. building just a couple of blocks away. They moved the brewery to the new location last year but lacked a tap room until a few weeks ago.
At the tap room grand opening, we asked brewer-owner Jeff Hardesty about hosting a meetup at the new location with a tour of the brewery. He graciously agreed. The meetup will start at 5:30pm and the tour will start at 7pm. We will hang around till the tasting room closes at 8pm.
Although Narrow Gauge doesn't have food, they welcome food brought in from neighboring restaurants (if you haven't tried the meatballs from Cuginos next door, you are missing out!) so feel free to bring in food.
Hope to see you there!
A few of us from this group have joined the Ghost Ride over the years. The ride occurs every full moon leaving Tower Grove Park around 8pm. It is a really fun night ride with unique stops and routes. We picked this date since it is the only full moon falling on a Fri or Sat until November and the rides typically end late at night/early morning.
So what does this have to do with craft beer? There is a byob gathering before the ride at the Turkish Pavilion at Tower Grove Park and multiple fun bar stops along the way. Riders are encouraged to patronize the businesses we stop at. When the weather is nice, this ride can have several hundred riders - a great opportunity to meet new people and ride around the city in a big group.
Here is a video from a few years ago to give you an idea what to expect.
Although the start location and time is known, only the organizer knows the route which is different each month and usually ends with a party at a pop-up venue somewhere in the city. You can stay to the end of the ride (there is no posted end time) or peel off at any time. You will need to bike from that point to home (or where you parked). Bring lights and pair up with a group that plans to end about the same time and return to the same location.
We plan on getting to Tower Grove Park around 7:30pm and the ride typically leaves at 8:30pm. We will post when we get there and can ride together and coordinate on when different groups want to head back.
The founder of the St. Louis Craft Beer Society Niel Stender will be in town the weekend of the 10th to helps us celebrate a decade of this meetup! We have hosted meetups at many beer festivals over the years and Microfest was one of the ones we always attended in the early years. These pictures are from our meetup at the 2015 Microfest.
Microfest is a ticketed event with all profits going to the Lift for Life Gym non-profit. Prices increase on May 1 so buy your tickets (TICKET LINK) as soon as possible. Most buy the “regular” admission tickets for $50 for the session that runs from 1p-4pm so we will start officially at 1pm. VIP tickets are $30 more and include food, entry an hour earlier at 12p and some additional VIP-only beer tastings.
The founder of the St. Louis Craft Beer Society Niel Stender will be in town the weekend of the 10th to helps us celebrate a decade of this meetup! The very first event Niel hosted was March 28, 2014 at Perennial and we thought we would kick off the 10th Anniversary Weekend with another event at Perennial.
Whether you are brand new to this meetup or have been coming for years, please stop by and meet some of the OG members of the St. Louis Craft Beer Society.
3/16/23 UPDATE - Looks like it will be a little cooler tomorrow (50s during the ride) but it will be clear and we may even get some sun. I've posted the downloadable GPS ride of the route. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow on St. Paddy's Day!
This year we will start and end in Forest Park with our first stop being the St. Patrick's Day parade in Dogtown!
This ride is 12.5 miles with 1-4 miles between stops. This will cover a mixture of new destinations, favorite spots, and points of interest - hopefully you will discover a new place, path and/or meet new friends.
Here is a downloadable GPS version of the route.
This is a social, no drop ride. We will stop to regroup if we get separated (at the top of a hill, through a traffic light, etc.). For those not biking, you are welcome to join us at our stops along the way!
The tentative itineary for the Sunday, March 17 ride is below:
(10:15a-10:30a) Lower Muny Parking Lot - This is where we will meet up to start the ride. This is located in a perfect spot between our first and last stops and is usually completly empty. We will depart promptly at 10:30am.
(10:45am - 12pm) Dogtown St. Patrick's Day Parade - We will avoid all the traffic and parking hassles by riding up through the park and watch the start of the parade from Turtle Park. Feel free to pack a cool beverage to enjoy for our stopover.
(12:15pm-1:15pm) Modern Brewery - This has been a Craft Beer Society favorite since they opened their new location. This brewery with awesome food and great beer will be our lunch stop.
(1:45pm-2:30pm) Blue Jay Brewing - This is one of the newest breweries in the St. Louis area that we have been looking forward to checking out.
(2:45pm-??) Up Down - This is our last stop\\. They have a great selection of 50\\+ drafts and lots of arcade games to pass the time\\. They also have excellent pizza by the slice for those looking for a snack\\. It is only an [8 minute ride back to the Muny Parking Lot](https://photos.app.goo.gl/TDQbQ7js3PYi3BKg7) (mostly through Forest Park). Once we get to Up Down,we get there, we can decide if we want to ride back to the lot as one group or split up if some want to stay later vs. get back sooner.
We will post messages here during our stops if we are running ahead or behind schedule in case you want to meet up with us along the way.
Remember - bring a lock and a water bottle and wear green!
Important Notice: The safest way to ride is to not consume alcohol before or during any bide ride. If you choose to sample alcoholic beverages at any time during the ride, we recommend you take advantage of ½ pours or 3 oz samples sizes. We also encourage you to share any samples you order with others in the group. This ride is intended for us to check out some of the venues in the area and meet new friends. This is not a pub crawl, no one should ride a bike or drive a vehicle after more than a drink or two.
Make sure to check out the past events list for additional 30 events that were cross-posted with the St. Louis Young Progressionals meetup.
The last few years, we have had a group do the Moonlight Ramble evening bike ride. Thousands of riders on closed streets throughout St. Louis starting and ending at the Grove. There is both a short (11 mile) and long course (16 mile).
We will meet at Rockwell brewing at 9:30pm (or earlier if someone can make it earlier to grab a table, please message us) and then move over to Manchester just after the course opens at 11pm.
Complete details and registration form here. Direct link to Registration Form
The ramble starts at 10pm and for those interested in meeting up, we will meeting at Rockwell Beer Co. out on the patio starting at 8:30p.
Let's get together in Tower Grove Park to socialize and share some beers. Food Truck Friday runs from 4p-8p and parking and food lines can be long later in the evening so try to arrive early. I set the start time to 4:30pm since it is typically hard to find an organizer that can get there before. If you can, message us and we can move the start time to 4p.
We usually find a spot near the restrooms and band (4501 Southwest Drive 63110). Bring a chair/blanket and beer to share. Whoever arrives first, post the location/photo on this event so we can easily find each other.
4/18/23 Update - Weather is looking a little cooler (likely in the 60s) but should be mstly sunny and no rain. A lot nicer than our last couple of rides. Route details below.
==========================
This ride is ~15 miles (with a shorter ~10 mile option - see below) with 2-4 miles between stops. This will cover a mixture of new destinations, favorite spots, and points of interest - hopefully you will discover a new path or a historic site.
Here is a link to the route. You can us the Export function under the More menu to export a file comptable with most GPS fitness apps. I also have posted a shorter route for those that might decide to skip the longest (and hilliest) part to/from Civil life and go directly back to the start/end of the route after Wellspent)
This is a social, no drop ride. We will stop to regroup if we get separated (at the top of a hill, through a traffic light, etc.). For those not biking, you are welcome to join us at our stops along the way!
The start (Modern Brewery) and end (2nd Shift Brewery) are less than a mile away. Both breweries parking lots are small so rather than tying up spaces for hours, I'd recommend parking either along Oakland or Macklind by Modern or along Sublette or Shaw by 2nd Shift. Metered spots are free on Sundays ([parking map](https://dboccabella.github.io/images/2023-04-23_Parking.png)).
The itineary for the April 23 ride is below:
(10a-11a) Modern Brewery ] - They opened two weeks after our last ride so we will visit this time. Awesome food and great beer. They have a great brunch menu, so get there early if you want to get something to eat before we depart at 11am.
(11:15am-11:45am) Up Down - After a short ride through Forest Park, we will stop at the Up Down arcade bar. They have a great selection of 50+ drafts and lots of arcade games to pass the time. They have pizza by the slice for those that are looking to grab a bite.
(12:15pm-12:45pm) Wellspent Brewing - After a short ride through Fullerton's Westminster (and past the former homes of T.S. Eliot and Barbara O'Neil and through Grand Center, we will stop at this mid-town brewery. In addition to a nice draft list, they usually have tasty tamales for sale on Sundays.
(1:15pm-1:30pm) Compton Water Tower - Since the ride from Wellspent to Civil Life is almost 6 miles, we will stop in the middle at the Compton Hill Reservoir Park. This is a great spot to stop, grab a group photo in front of the Water Tower, and relax before continuing onto Civil Life. If we aren't running late, we will see if there is interest in stopping at Ices Plain & Fancy for a cool treatalong the way to Civil Life.
(2pm-2:30pm) Civil Life - The newly reopened and expanded patio is always a great place to hang out on a Sunday.
(3pm-??) 2nd Shift - Always a fun stop with lots of space. We will ride up through The Hill past Piazzo Imo to end our ride here. Heavy Riff is also close by for those that want to add an extra stop.
I'll post messages here during our stops if we are running ahead or behind schedule in case you want to meet up with us along the way.
Remember - bring a lock and a water bottle!
Important Notice: The safest way to ride is to not consume alcohol before or during any bide ride. If you choose to sample alcoholic beverages at any time during the ride, we recommend you take advantage of ½ pours or 3 oz samples sizes. Get ready to eat way too much mac & cheese!!
Modern Brewery's new tasting room opened a few weeks ago and we thought this would be the perfect spot for our next meetup.
Many of us that have been picking up To Go orders from their former location on Manchester are excited that, for the first time since 2019, we can sample their great beers (including world class IPAs, stouts, and sours) in their new tasting room.
Their onsite kitchen, The King's Oak, is REALLY good as well - if you haven't tried their food, you should.
We'll meet there starting at 5pm.
Hope you can make it!
8/6/22 - I've tweaked the route after riding it today and we have a great route through Dogtown through Maplewood up through DeMun and Concordia Seminary, through WashU to The Loop and back through Forest Park returning to Dogtown & The Hill.
=======================
This route will cover a mixture of new destinations and favorite spots from previous meetups or bike rides. The total distance will be \\~13 miles 1-3 miles between stops. This is a social, no drop ride. We will stop to regroup if we get separated (at the top of a hill, through a traffic light, etc.).
The weather is looking almost 20 degrees cooler than the 100+ degree ride we did in July so we are looking forward to the nicer weather.
For those not biking, you are welcome to join us at our stops along the way!
The starting point and ending point is Felix's Pizza/Heavy Riff Brewing in Dogtown. There should be plenty of street parking and nice patio space at the start and end. Felix's opens at 11am if you want to take advantage of their slice + craft beer pint special - there will be several more food options along the way.
Stops and estimated times:
(11a-11:30a) Felix's - Decent tap selection and great pizza with and a hard to beat slice + craft draft special
(12p-1p) Shared Brewing - We haven't yet had a meetup stop at Side Project's latest spinoff that opened in the last year. Great beer selection and Pizza Champ pizza on their patio. We'll stop here for a little longer as our official lunch stop and spot between the two longest ride segments.
(1pm-1:30p) iTap in The Loop - We've never had a stop at iTap's newest location and there is a great draft selection and nice patio to enjoy.
(2pm-2:30pm) 2nd Shift - The bad news is Modern's new tasting room won't open till around the 26th. We will plan a meetup there after it opens. The good news is that 2nd Shift is less than a mile away and is a favorite that we always love to visit.
(3pm-??) Heavy Riff Brewing - Great brews at BBQ right next to where we started.
I'll post messages here during our stops if we are running ahead or behind schedule in case you want to meet up with us along the way.
Important Notice: The safest way to ride is to not consume alcohol before or during any bide ride. If you choose to sample alcoholic beverages at any time during the ride, we recommend you take advantage of ½ pours or 3 oz samples sizes. This is not a pub crawl, no one should ride a bike or drive a vehicle after more than a drink or two.
The Moonlight Ramble evening bike ride returned last year after a several year break and it was a lot of fun. Thousands of riders on closed streets throughout St. Louis starting and ending at the Grove. There is both a short (8 mile) and long course (14 mile).
For those looking to make a day of it, we have a brewery ride at 11am that same day: https://www.meetup.com/st-louis-craft-beer-society/events/284976789/
Complete details and registration form here - https://moonlightramble.com/
The ramble starts at 10pm and for those interested in meeting up, we will be at Gezillig starting at 9pm (or earlier).
7/19/22 -For the first time since Oct 19, we will restart the bike rides! Saturday is looking to be a hot day so we will do a little shorter ride than normal (<10 miles) and not more than 15 minutes between stops and finish up before the hottest hours of the day start at 4pm.
=====
This is a great "Tour of St. Louis" route which will take us by all these landmarks in under 10 miles - Soulard, Busch Stadium, Anheuser Busch Brewery, Benton Park, Cherokee Street, Lemp Brewery and Lafayette Square! At the half-way point we will pass by close to the start/end so if anyone feels like they can't do the entire ride, you can stop off at iTap and wait for us.
This is a leisurely bike ride with 1-2 miles between stops so bikers of all skill levels are welcome. We will stop to regroup if we get separated (at the top of a hill, through a traffic light, etc.) Bring a water bottle and bike lock.
For those not biking, you are welcome to join us at our stops along the way!
The starting point and ending point is International Tap House in Soulard at 1711 S. 9th Street. Find parking as close as you can in Soulard (if you are not riding from home), and meet up at the Patio at iTap. If you want to get something to eat before, the Soulard Farmer's Market across the street opens at 7am and Epic Pizza and Mission Taco are connected to iTap and both open at 11am. We will plan on leaving at 11:30am - there are several food options along the way.
Stops and estimated times:
(11a-11:30a) iTap Soulard - Always a fun time with a great draft and bottle selection. You can lock your bikes to the fence at the patio and Epic Pizza and Mission Taco are connected and deliver to the patio.
(11:45am-12:15pm) Budweiser Brew House - We know AB isn't craft beer but they have over 100 selections including many from local breweries like 2nd Shift. See how easy it is to ride up to the stadium on bikes without dealing without being stuck in your car in traffic.
(12:30pm-12:45pm) Photo Stop at the Arch - We will ride through the park grounds and stop for a photo opp under the Arch.
(1pm-1:30pm) 4 Hands Brewing - Always a fun stop with free skeeball and arcade games and a good tap selection.
(1:45pm-2:30pm) Bluewood Brewing - We've had a meetup here but haven't yet had this on a bike stop. We will stop a little longer here for those that might want to grab something to eat at Burger809 inside Bluewood.
(2:45pm-3:15pm) Square One Brewery & Distillery - Our first craft beer bike ride started here many years ago and we haven't been back. This is a nice halfway stop on our way back to iTap.
(3:30pm-??) iTap - We will finish our loop back at iTap.
We also encourage you to share any samples you order with others in the group. This ride is intended for us to check out some of the venues in the area and meet new friends. This is not a pub crawl, no one should ride a bike or drive a vehicle after more than a drink or two.

9/23/19 Update: Posting of the route details with estimated times. Moved the ride up an hour, it’s now 11-5 instead of 12-6.
The route is intended to feature a few of the venues in the Defiance area along with some of the scenery the Katy Trail has to offer. This will be a leisurely ride, the trail is mostly flat, but there are a couple steep hills between the trail to our stops. The overall distance is 13-14 miles. Due to a section of the trail being under repair following floods earlier this year, we will not ride to Augusta, but there are plenty of good options around Defiance that we’ll check out on this ride.
Route Details:
*Park at the Defiance Katy Trail Access lot on Hwy 94.
11:00-11:30 Arrive at Good News Brewing Company (Defiance Location) – from the Defiance Katy Trail Access parking lot, Good News is a short ride (~2 minutes) on the trail. Park and make your way over to Good News to meet the group. We’ll hang out at Good News while the group arrives then plan to leave for the next stop at 12:00. Beer samples and food options are available here if you want to get some lunch before the ride. Distance to next stop: 2.7 miles
Sugar Creek Winery (approx. 12:30)
Note - there is a steep, but short hill up to the winery from the Katy Trail. You can choose to walk or ride your bike up the hill. Distance from Sugar Creek to next stop: 2.8 miles
Klondike Park Overlook (approx. 1:45)
-We’ll ride to this scenic park to enjoy the views overlooking the river. We’ll leave our bikes at the park office and take the short walk up to overlook. To keep the beer theme, I’ll bring a couple beverages for us to sample at the top of the overlook. If you have something that you would like to share, feel free to bring it. Distance to next stop: 6.2 miles
Note: On our way to the next stop, Chandler Hill, we will pass the parking lot where we started. Its a flat 4.7 miles back to the parking lot then an additional 1.5 miles to Chandler Hill. The final 1.5 miles is off the Katy Trail on a blacktop road with a few hills. If you do not feel like taking on the hills, you can get in your car at the parking lot and drive up the 1.5 miles to Chandler Hill.
Chandler Hill Winery (w/Perennial Beers & live music) (Approx 3:15)
-This stop has good wine, beer and food options to go along with live music and a great view. We’ll plan to get food here and hang out for a while. Distance back to parking lot: 1.5 miles w/hills.
This ride is intended for us to enjoy the views along the Katy Trail, check out some of the venues in the area and meet new friends. This is not a pub crawl, no one should ride a bike or drive a vehicle after more than a drink or two.
Save the date: We have had so much interest in doing a Katy Trail brewery/winery tour that we have two scheduled just a week apart. Join us for either one or both!

Since we weren't able to do the Perennial ride last time, we are going to do a South City ride to Perennial on 9/1. The ride to/from Perennial is a great ride along the Des Peres Greenway bike path.
This route will cover a mixture of destinations that are new from our previous rides and a couple of favorites from previous events. This route is designed as a loop so you can easily return to your car if you didn't ride from home. The total distance is ~14 miles.

Strava route map: https://www.strava.com/routes/15160261
For those not biking, you are welcome to meet us at Perennial by 1:45 for the brewery tour and/or join us at stops along the way!
Stops and estimated times:
(11a-11:30a) - Civil Life Brewing - The official starting and ending stop is Civil life. They have a great outside patio where we will plan on meeting before we leave the brewery at 11:30am.
It is just under a 2 mile ride to our next stop Craft Beer Cellar (CBC)
(11:45am-1pm) CBC - We stopped by this new South City location on our last ride and we will stop again and make this our official lunch stop. Although they don't have food, they welcome food to be brought in and our plan is to have Salt & Smoke deliver from their Hampton location. If you are interested, either place your own order for delivery at noon (https://saltandsmoke.alohaorderonline.com/) or bring cash to Civil Life and we will place a group order before we leave.
After leaving CBC, we will be on the longest stretch of our ride, approx 7 miles, most of it down the River Des Peres bike/pedestrian Greenway.
(1:45pm-3pm) Perennial Artisan Ales - We plan to get here in time to tour the brewery at 2pm. We will plan on spending a little over an hour between the brewery tour and relaxing on the patio.
Once we leave Perennial, we will go back along the Greenway and take the Carondelet Connector through Carondelet Park for a total of ~4 miles till Ted Drewes.
(3:30pm-3:45pm) Ted Drewes - I expect many will want to cool off with a concrete from Drewes. For those that want to continue on back to Civil LIfe, it is just over a mile away.

Update: Saturday (4/14) @ 10:15am - The Ride Is On! The major storm band has passed but there still is a chance of rain during the ride starting around 2pm. If you aren't a biker (or don’t want to chance getting wet), meet us at the start, at Brew Hub at 1pm for Lunch (they are holding tables for us) and/or Wellspent Brewing at 3:30pm for the tour that starts at 4pm.
This route will cover all new destinations from our previous rides including two places that have opened in the last month and a surprise stop that might open just before our ride.
This route will be about 10 miles starting and ending in midtown. The route is designed as a loop so you can easily return to your car if you didn't ride from home. Route and map to be posted soon.
This is a leisurely \"no drop\" bike ride with 1-2 miles between stops so novice bikers of all skill levels are welcome.
We will be starting at Brick River Cider on Washington & 20th and ending in Wellspent Brewing at 2917 Olive. They are within 1/2 mile of each other so you should be able to park somewhere convenient to the start and finish. There are free spots on the north side of Olive in front of Wellspent and there are a couple of lots on the south side of 20th & Olive that are $1-$5 per day. I'd avoid the meters since you'll need to renew them using the parking app and they cost more than the lots. The closest metro stop is Union Station - 1/2 mile from the start at Brick River.
Click here for a map of the route and suggested parking locations. (https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/8/2/5/a/highres_469953370.jpeg)
Stops and estimated times:
(11:00a-11:30a) Brick River Cider Co. - Opened in February in a former St. Louis firehouse featuring handcrafted ciders, guest beer taps and great food. If you want to get something to eat here, I'd suggest getting there right at 11am since we plan to ride out at 11:30am.
(12p-12:30p) Scottish Arms - A great Victorian-style pub with good food and beer selection that happens to be about halfway between Brick River and Brew Hub.
(1pm-2:15pm) Brew Hub Taproom (https://www.brewbound.com/news/brew-hub-opens-st-louis-taproom) - This brewpub opened on March 6 and offers their own brews as well as those from their 14+ partner brewers, many of which are not distributed to St. Louis making this the only place locally you can taste these. This will be the longest stop and the official \"lunch stop\" and Brew Hub is reserving tables for our group.
(2:30p-3p) Urban Research Brewery (U.R.B.) - Great pizza by the slice and the ability to sample (4) 2 oz beers for only $1.
(3:30pm-??) Wellspent Brewing - This brewery opened on March 3 and offers their own brews plus a selection of guest taps. Although their kitchen is not currently open (except for Gus' pretzels), you can order in from several close restaurants. They will provide our group with a private brewery tour starting at 4:00pm.
I'll post messages here during our stops if we are running ahead or behind schedule in case you want to meet up with us along the way. Download the Strava Route Link (https://www.strava.com/routes/12590213) if you want the complete route on your phone.
Notes:
• CWE Option - For those that want to join me starting and stopping in the CWE, I plan on leaving at 10:30am. This makes the total distance around 17 miles. Private message me if you are interested in starting from the CWE (Strava route link (https://www.strava.com/routes/12583814))

What to bring
Positive vibes and the ability to pull facts and miracles out of your butt.
Important to know
If you get there a little early, try to save a table for our group.

Let's get together and hang out before the craziness of the holidays! We'll start off at Charleville Brewing Company
(http://charlevillebeer.com/) at 7pm. From there we can decide as a group whether we want to stay at Charleville Brewing or visit the other bars within walking distance. We'll update our location as the night progresses.
See you there!
Note: DATE CHANGE - THE DATE IS NOW OCT 29!

Earthbound opened their new brewery location last month with a really neat tap room with a chain-suspended 2nd floor. The new brewery is a really remarkable restoration of part of the old Cherokee Brewing facility. They have dug out the underground lagering cellars and the first level of barrel vaults and this is your chance to see what it looks like almost 50' below the ground floor.
https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/6/6/6/d/600_465026221.jpeg
We will meet at Earthbound by 2pm for drinks before/after the tour of the underground space. For those interested in meeting up for lunch, let's plan on meeting at Vista Ramen at 12:30pm and we will walk the 2 blocks down to Earthbound.
See this article (https://www.stlmag.com/history/earthbound-beer-s-renovation-of-the-old-cherokee-brewery-reveals-a-lot-about-19th-century-st-louis/) for more information about the history of this building and Earthbound's renovation.

If you haven't been to the City Museum, prepare yourself, it's killer. Basically Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory except for adults and without most of the chocolate. It's a good time. Dress comfortably (jeans and close toe shoes recommended) and plan on climbing, sliding, contorting and generally having fun. They have multiple bars and are open till Midnight. The beer selection isn't amazing but it'll work. There are plenty of parking lots around, just bring some cash. Admission to the museum is $12 (+$5 for roof access). For those that want to meet for dinner beforehand, we will be going to Hugo's (Bailey's new Pizza and craft beer place across from Pappy's) at 6p before driving over to the City Museum (a little over a mile away).
This route will cover 5 downtown breweries including two new ones since our last ride. We will also ride through the (almost) completed arch grounds for a great photo stop in front of the Arch.
This ride will be a little shorter than the last one - about 8 miles (see bottom of the email for a 13 mile option). The route is designed as a loop so you can easily return to your car if you didn't ride from home.
This is a leisurely \"no drop\" bike ride with 1-2 miles between stops so novice bikers of all skill levels are welcome.
We will be starting at Center Ice (brewery on the west end of the same building Pappy's is located) and ending at UCBC on Washington - they are a couple of blocks from each other with metered parking (free on Sunday!) on Olive and Locust.
https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/5/8/d/5/600_464362741.jpeg
Stops and estimated times:
(11:30a-12:30p) Center Ice - we will start at this brand new brewery downtown next to Pappy's and ride out at 12:30pm. They do not server food but you can bring in food. If you want to eat lunch, my suggestion is to call in a ToGo order at Pappy's when they open at 11am (314-535-4340) and skip the line and pickup at the counter to bring the food over to Center Ice. You can lock your bikes to the railing by the entrance which is in the back of the building sharing the same parking lot as Pappy's.
(1p-1:45p) Morgan Street Brewery - We'll ride down Washington for a quick stop in Laclede's landing.
(2:15p-3:15p) 4 Hands - Always a great stop - we will plan on meeting at the 2nd floor tap room with the free arcade games. Sidney Street/Peacemaker runs the kitchen downstairs with some great food options.
(3:30p-4:15p) Charleville - Another brewery that has recently relocated to St. Louis just west of Vin De Set/PW Pizza. We'll pull our bikes into the back patio area.
(4:45pm-?) Urban Chestnut Downtown - We will end up here on their patio close to where we started.
I'll post messages here during our stops if we are running ahead or behind schedule in case you want to meet up with us along the way. Download the Strava Route Link (https://www.strava.com/routes/10387486) (to be posted) if you want the complete route on your phone.
Notes:
Weather - If there are severe thunderstorms, I will post to this page and cancel at least 2 hours in advance of the ride. If it is cloudy but the weather radar doesn't show anything more than light rain, we will still ride. DON'T rely on % chance of rain forecast on weather.com, accuweather, etc. - I have found those useless for predicting rain on bike rides. On the last ride we cancelled with 100% chance of rain, the weather still held out until late afternoon.
CWE Option - For those that want to join me starting and stopping in the CWE, I plan on leaving at 11am. This makes the total distance around 13 miles. Private message me if you are interested in starting from the CWE (Strava route link (https://www.strava.com/routes/10504732))

(8/5/17) 2nd Shift / Salt & Smoke Pig Roast - 8/4/27 Update: Look for the smiley face balloons Jason will be wearing to find us. If you want to meet up earlier we will be at iTap Soulard for Firkin fest from 2p until 2nd shift.
https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/5/6/b/5/600_462442197.jpeg
This was a great craft beer week event last year. The fine people from Salt & Smoke will be smoking a whole pig (or 2 or 3) for your enjoyment. Of course there will be lots of 2nd Shift beer on draft, bring some of your friends, and close out STLCBW in style.
Tickets are $13 in advance and $17 at the door. Ticket link: http://m.bpt.me/event/3047831
We will post more details (meetup time, etc.) when it gets closer - just wanted to get the date on people's calendars.

Saturday, May 27 8am: The ride is on! It looks like the rain forecast has moved out to 7pm or later and I think we will appreciate the clouds during the ride since it will be a warm day.
This ride will be about the same distance as the last one, but I added on an extra hour and one less stop to make sure no one feels rushed.
The ride will start and end in Maplewood. In addition to street parking, there is a large public lot on Marietta between Sutton and Oakview Terrace that is a couple of blocks from the start and end of the ride. Schlafly Art Outside (https://www.facebook.com/events/1883074021963874/1913585712246038/?acontext=%7B%22ref%22%3A%2229%22%2C%22ref_notif_type%22%3A%22admin_plan_mall_activity%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22null%22%7D¬if_t=admin_plan_mall_activity¬if_id=1495714916808033) is also going on Saturday from 10a-10p so arrive early to allow ample time for parking.
This is a leisurely \"no drop\" bike ride with 1-2 miles between stops so novice bikers are more than welcome.
Total distance is about 8 miles roundtrip. We will stay on residential streets and ride through The Hill and Dogtown. The ride is mostly flat but are a few hills and we will make sure to stop at the top of any climbs for everyone to catch up. There will be enough time at each stop for everyone to grab a drink, snack or just socialize with the rest of the group.
https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/4/1/600_461341089.jpeg
List of Stops with Approximate Times:
(12:00p-12:30p) Schlafly Bottleworks - we will leave promptly at 1pm so feel free to come early (they open at 11am) if you want time to get lunch or check out Art Outside before we ride out.
(1:00p-1:30pm) Missouri Baking Company – we will ride by on our way to 2nd Shift for those that want to grab some cookies or pastries at one of the best bakeries in St. Louis. Note: they are cash-only.
(1:45p-2:30p) 2nd Shift Brewery - so glad they moved into The Hill last year. The recently opened a kitchen in collaboration with Mission Taco.
(2:50p-4:00p) Heavy Riff/Felix's Pizza - this will be a longer stop to give everyone a chance to sit down for some BBQ at Heavy Riff and/or Pizza at Felix's. Felix's all day, everyday special is any craft beer on tap plus a slice of any of their pizzas for $8.95. Hopefully everyone will be able to visit both places that are right next door to one another.
(4:30p-5:00p) Modern Brewing - The only backtracking we will do on the ride (just for a mile) since they are only open from 4p-11p on Friday and Saturday
(5:30pm-?) Side Project Brewing - They close at 7pm but the Side Project Cellar right next to the parking lot is open till 11p.
I'll post messages here during our stops if we are running ahead or behind schedule in case you want to meet up with us along the way. Download the Strava route link (https://www.strava.com/routes/8888049) if you want the complete route on your phone.

This year is the 20th anniversary of this great beer festival in Forest Park. They have 3 sessions - Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. We are attending the Saturday 1p-5p session.
You can purchase your ticket here ( http://stlmicrofest.org/tickets/ ). $42 gets you entrance, a tasting glass and unlimited samples from 125+ breweries. There is also food available for purchase from food trucks.
Bike ride postponed but we will still have a meetup today (Saturday, April 29) ! Even though some of the day will be just overcast, it looks like there will be some downpours and possibly heavy winds - not an ideal forecast for a ride.
We will meet at Felix's Pizza in Dogtown at Noon (4th stop on route below). Many of us have already \"blocked off\" Saturday afternoon so we can still get together, meet some of the new members of the group, walk over to Heavy Riff Brewing (next door) and decide if we want to move on to some of the other nearby locations afterwards.
I will post a new date for the ride tomorrow (likely Saturday, May 13 or 27)
With the weather (sporadically) warming up and lots of Spring weekend beer festivals (Lupulin, MicroFest, etc.), it is time to schedule our first ride of 2017. This one will be about the same distance as last time but I added on an extra hour and one less stop to make sure no one feels rushed.
The ride will start and end in Maplewood. This is always a fun event and has gotten so big it is at Union Station this year instead of the brewery parking lot.
It's time for the annual release of War Hammer & celebration of the hop! Lupulin Carnival is a beer festival thrown by 4 Hands Brewing Co. in which they gather a handfful of their favorite breweries in one spot. Check out the brewery list ( http://lupulincarnival.com/brewery-list/ ) to see who is coming this year.
This is a unique beer sampling event happening amungst a variety of carnival acts. This year they are taking the event to Union Station, so it will be both indoors and outdoors! Beyond carnival entertainment and the opportunity to try some breweries we don't typically get in the STL, there will be live music, DJs, food trucks, games, ferris wheel rides AND a Super Slide! Stay connected to the event page for updated details on the event.
You can also stay in the loop on the carnival website http://lupulincarnival.com/. There you will find the current brewery list in which they are adding to daily. This event sells out every year, so make sure you get your tickets! Early Bird tickets are sold out but general admission ($50) and designated driver ($15) tickets are still available at this link.

Side Project is hosting a public bottle share on Friday, February 10 from 4p-8p. I know many of you have been wanting to attend a share and this is a great opportunity. The only requirement is to bring at least one big (750 ml or bomber) of a black (porter, stout, barleywine) beer to share. If you aren't sure what to bring, stop by and talk to our friends at Craft Beer Cellar and they will help you out.
The brewery is not officially open during the event but they are providing the space and we will need to bring anything else we will need (tasting glass, napkins and any food you might want to carry in). Everyone is expected to clean up after themselves to respect the brewery and allow future events like this to be held.
The brewery has a very small parking lot so the best bet is to park in the public lot on Marietta Ave between Sutton Blvd and Marshall Ave or find street parking along Manchester or Sutton.
See http://stlhops.com/its-the-return-of-big-black-beer-bash-at-side-project-brewing/ for more details

We meet up at the fountain at Maryland Plaza & York (between Euclid and Kingshighway) at 7:45pm and leave promptly at 8pm. Every week we have a slow social ride stopping for drinks or ice cream and aim to get back to Maryland Plaza by 10:30pm. We usually have about 20 people. Bring lights but if you don't have them we always have spare front and rear bike lights.
Once we get back to Maryland Plaza, we will likely take advantage of another stop for those interested. Happy Hour ($2 tacos!) starts at 10pm at Mission Taco and Llywelyns also has great specials starting at 10pm.

We have had a lot of interest in our beer bike rides in the past so I suspect we have a few members of this group planning to attend the Moonlight Ramble this year. The Moonlight Ramble (http://moonlightramble.com/) is in its 53rd year and has thousands of people participating each year starting at Ballpark Village. There is a short route (~10 miles) as well as a longer route (~19 miles).
For those of you who want to share some good beer before, meet us at 10pm at The Flying Saucer which is 1 block from Ballpark village. Weather Update: The ride is on for today. Just clouds but no rain expected! See you soon.
We went on a couple of these rides last year and had a great time. With the weather warming up, it is time to kick off our first ride of 2016. The ride will start and end in The Grove and there should be plenty of street parking on Sunday as well as a parking lot just west of the Gramophone (start of the ride) and less than 2 blocks from Urban Chestnut (the end of the ride).
This is a leisurely bike ride with about two miles (or less) between stops so novice bikers are more than welcome. Total distance is about 7.5 miles* roundtrip. We will stay on residential streets and ride through Tower Grove park on the way south and back north. The ride is mostly flat but there is a hill up to Civil Life. There will be enough time at each stop for everyone to grab a drink, snack or just socialize with the rest of the group.
http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/5/9/f/1/600_448403025.jpeg
List of Stops with Approximate Times:
(2p-2:30p) Gramophone – we will leave promptly at 2:30pm. Feel free to come early if you want more time to get lunch before we ride out. They have sandwich specials on Sundays
(2:45p-3p) World’s Fair Donuts – we will ride by and stop for those that want to grab a tasty sugar treat before they close at 3p. I swear they haven't increased their prices since the world's fair!
(3:30p-4p) Amsterdam Tavern – usually a good beer selection with sandwiches and treats available from The Dam next door
(4:30p-5p) Civil Life Brewing Company – great brewery with a nice outdoor patio
(5:15p-5:45p) Rooster on Grand – Always a good selection of local beer by the same group that runs Bailey's and The Bridge
(6p-6:15p) Ices Plain & Fancy – Enjoy nitrogen chilled ice cream, floats and ice cream cocktails
(6:45p) Urban Chestnut Grove Brewery – We’ll finish up at Urban Chestnut’s brewery in the Grove just 2 blocks from where we started. I suspect many in the group will get dinner here after the ride. We will do our best to fill up their nice indoor bike rack:

Click on this link (https://ridewithgps.com/users/599185) and then click on \"CURRENTLY LIVE LOGGING\". This will be active after 1:30pm on Sunday to see exactly where we are so you can meet up with us at any time.
Notes:
Weather - If it is raining hard, I will post to this page and cancel at least 1 hour in advance of the ride. If it is cloudy but the weather radar doesn't show anything more than a sprinkle, we will still ride. DON'T rely on % chance of rain forecast on weather.com, accuweather, etc. - I have found those useless for predicting rain on bike rides.
Distance - I am starting and ending from the CWE so that is why you see mileage markers up to \"11\" but the total distance for those riding from the Grove will be under 8 miles.

I know this is a 3 months away but the pre-sale tickets are available now so you can save $10 if you book in the next couple of weeks. Ticket Link (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2478940)
This is definitely one of the best St Louis beer festivals with a great selection of out-of-distribution breweries and lots of IPAs for the hop heads in our group.
From 4 Hands Facebook Event Page (https://www.facebook.com/events/1684580598484019/): Lots of beer, carnival acts, food trucks, games and even a ferris wheel will take over the street in front of 4 Hands Brewing Co on April 2, 2016 from 2-6pm. Lupulin Carnival is their biggest party of the year that celebrates the hop with the release of Warhammer, an Imperial IPA. A variety of out of state and local breweries will gather at 4 Hands to sample their offerings and engage in the wide variety of carnival entertainment.
Since the brewery started 4 years ago, 4 Hands has been setting aside a date to pay homage to the hop with the release of their Imperial IPA, Warhammer. Now, there are a couple more hoppy varieties resurfacing that day including: Tackhammer - a session IPA and Super Flare - a collaboration with Wicked Weed Brewing brett IPA brewed with guava and tangerine zest. 4 Hands invites a handful of breweries they have befriended over the years and put on “The Greatest Beer Show on Earth”. Beyond the beer, guests will have carnival acts such as fire breathers, fortune tellers and acrobatics scattered throughout the event creating an entertaining and energetic atmosphere. Some local, St. Louis favorite food trucks and vendors will be there serving up delicious food throughout the day. Carnival games will be available to play with all proceeds being donated to Winter Outreach, a St. Louis non-profit that helps St. Louisans obtain proper housing. And yes, the ferris wheel will return this year, so folks can overlook the carnival, the brewery and the fabulous St. Louis skyline.

This is my favorite beer festival in St. Louis. A great selection of local, home brew and out-of-distribution beers. The \"pour your own\" format was great and the lines were never more than a couple of minutes even for the rarer beers (Abraxas, etc.) Looks like they have already secured BCS Regal and I am sure there will be other surprises.
These tickets will sell out quick (the VIP tickets sold out within a couple of hours this morning) so don't delay if you are considering going. Link to purchase tickets. (http://stlhops8th.brownpapertickets.com/)
See the STL Hops website for further details: http://stlhops.com/stl-hops-8th-anniversary-party/
THE craft beer option for Mardi Gras is the iTap VIP Party. It isn't cheap but it includes unlimited draft pours, food from Epic pizza and access to clean bathrooms with no line.

Link to buy tickets: http://itapmardigrasvip2016.brownpapertickets.com/
Even if you don't buy tickets for the party, I am sure we will pick some spots outside iTap to meetup during the event.
Rare and interesting beer offerings. The actual event starts at 11am, so some of us might get there earlier than noon.
If you haven't been to the City Museum, prepare yourself, it's killer. Basically Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory except for adults and without most of the chocolate. It's a good time. Dress comfortably and plan on climbing, sliding, contorting and generally having fun. They have multiple bars and are open till Midnight. The beer selection isn't amazing but it'll work. There are plenty of parking lots around, just bring some cash. Admission to the museum is $10.
The guys from J2 Brewing have set up their own brew pub in Maryland Heights. It's one of 3 breweries that recently opened there. Who knew that Maryland Heights would become a beer destination?
Come hang out with us for some good beer and pretty tasty pizza. We'll try to look for seating out in the patio if it's not too cold.
http://www.standardbrewingstl.com/
It there's enough interest, we can also check out Six Mile Bridge Beer right down the street.

See you soon!

Since it is Halloween Season, we thought this would be a fun event - especially since there is a $18-$20 Living Social deal right now that gets you access to the paintball hayride, walk through zombie hunt and 150 paintballs and some other extras. More information about the event can be found on their website http://hauntedpaintballpark.com/
The plan is to meetup at 4204 Brewing in Bellevue, Il at 6pm (which is only a 10-15 minute detour on the way from St. Louis) and then leave there by 7:15pm so we can be at the park by 7:45pm. Not sure how long of a line there will be, but that should give us plenty of time before they close at 10pm. After the hunt, we'll plan on stopping at the Flying Saucer downtown which is on the way back.
If you don't have time to meet before at 4204 brewing, we'll post a meetup spot when we get to the paintball field and you can join us at 7:45pm.
Link to the map showing the stops (https://goo.gl/maps/h4nv2)
A group of us went on a beer bike ride with another group and had a great time so we’d thought we’d put together a ride just for the Craft Beer Society. We decided to start this one a little earlier (5pm) and make the route a little shorter (6 mile round trip) to allow more casual bike riders to join us and to provide for more time at the stops while it is still daylight. We will start and end at Lafayette square and there is lots of free parking on Park Street and in the parking lot right across from Square One.

Click here for the detailed map (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/10193626/)
Estimated Timeline
5pm – 5:30pm Square 1
5:45pm-6:15pm Four Hands
6:45pm-7:15pm Morgan Square (Happy Hour with $3 drafts and 1/2 price apps till 7pm)
7:30pm-8:00pm Schlafly Tap Room
8:15pm-8:45pm Bailey’s Chocolate Bar
These locations are all pretty close and there isn't much traffic on Sunday so there is some padding in the schedule so we aren't too rushed.
Click on this link (http://ridewithgps.com/users/599185/) and then click on \"CURRENTLY LIVE LOGGING\" (will be active after 4pm on Sunday) to see exactly where we are so you can meet up with us at any time.
For those of you who want to try a longer route (14.5 miles round trip), you can park and meet at my place in the Central West End (close to McPherson & Euclid) between 3 and 3:30pm. We'll share a few bottles and ride over just after 4 with a likely quick stop at PW Pizza/21st Street Brewers Bar on the way over (Link to Ride Out (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/10193368)). On the way back we will likely stop at Scottish Arms and/or iTap on Euclid (Link to Ride Back (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/10193613/)). If you want to start/end at my place, message me for the address and parking details.

For all of you hopheads, check out the beer list:
Perennial (http://www.perennialbeer.com/)
IPA #1- 7.7% ABV, 83 IBU
A strong American take on the classic style, this dry IPA, bursting with big mango and peach aromas, has an assertive citrus rind bitterness and slightly fruity flavors, and is balanced with a bread-crust-like malt backbone
Kirkwood Station (http://kirkwoodstationbrewing.com/)
IPA- 6.3% ABV, 65 IBU
A American style India Pale Ale. Light amber in color with a big citrus hop aroma. A decidedly hoppy and bitter, and moderately strong ale, this beer is for the hop lover. Malt flavor is just enough to balance out the Citrus, Grapefruit and Pine flavors from the hops. Medium bodied with a crisp dry finish. Brewed with 2-Row Malt, Munich Malt, Caramel Malt, Victory Malt, and Honey Malt. Hops are Summit, Galena, Cascade and Willamette. Dry hopping the beer with Cascade, Columbus and Chinook hops when it is finished with fermentation gives it its big hop aroma
Morgan Street (http://morganstreetbrewery.com/)
Unbendable Girder Imperial Pilsner
This imperial pilsner has a rich, malty, and spicy version of our standard Golden pilsner. The hop character is noticeably higher from the traditional pilsners rounded taste. The flavor is robust, and contains some grapefruit notes. The appearance is pale to deep gold, with a creamy white head.
Oak Aged Doppelbock
This version has a very strong maltiness, with very little to no hop aroma. In this darker version there are some very toasty notes, which have been pleasantly balanced with the aging. The mouth feel is full bodied, with moderately low carbonation.
Exit 6 (http://exit6brewery.com/)
Time Traveller – 8.5% ABV, 104 IBU
This imperial IPA is double dry hopped with Amarillo, Centennial, Cascade, and Simcoe
Charleville (http://charlevillevineyard.com/?location=microbrews)
Double Dry Hopped Hoptimistic IPA
Hoptimistic has intense hop bitterness and flavor. Fruity, floral and citrus-like aromas due to American-variety hops further characterize this ale. This copper/orange hued ale has a nicely balanced medium maltiness which contributes to a medium body that goes down easy, leaving a lingering bitterness that is hard to resist.
2nd Shift (http://2ndshiftbrewing.com/)
Brew Cocky- Imperial IPA- 9% ABV, 93 IBU
Yup, we love hops and this IPA puts them all up in your face. Loads and Loads of Falconer’s Flight, a blend of Northwest hops, were used in such a gratuitous manner heretofore no seen in these parts.
Six Row (http://sixrowbrewco.com/)
Double IPA – 8.4% ABV, 68 IBUs
Our Double India Pale Ale is bigger in hop character and alcohol than our Extra Pale Ale. It is sure to please even the most discerning hop-head! Also known as Imperial IPA, this intensely hoppy, yet very drinkable beer lets the malty characteristics take a step back and allows the hops to really shine. Brewed with almost two (2) pounds of hops per barrel and left unfiltered, Six Row Double IPA showcases the citrusy and piney characteristics of the Columbus, Centennial, and Chinook hops.
Cathedral Square (http://www.cathedralsquarebrewery.com/)
Belgian Style White
This traditional White Ale is faithful to the Belgian Style with its light body, cloudy color and touch of spice. A complex, refreshing Ale that’s perfect for any season.
Abbey
This traditional Belgian-Style Abbey Ale is brewed using five malts, two hop varieties, Imported Belgian Candy Sugar and authentic Trappist Belgian Yeast.
Belgian Style IPA
This Belgian-Style IPA is brewed using four malts, three hop varieties and is fermented with authentic Belgian Trappist yeast. Dry hopping this ale ensures a highly-hopped nirvana.
Holy Moly!
Brewed in the Russian Imperial Stout style, this offering boasts plenty of malt character and an aggressive amount of hops. A rich, flavorful ale with a finish you won’t believe.
Square One (http://www.squareonebrewery.com/)
IPA
An American IPA featuring Summit and Amarillo hops in both flavor and aroma additions.
Sterling Single Hop IPA
The fifth in a series of IPA’s featuring a single hop variety for bitterness, flavor and aroma. Each version is brewed with the same malt recipe, alcohol content and total bitterness, therefore showcasing the diversity in the hop itself. Sterling is a spicy, herbal, Saaz-style hop grown and developed in the U. S. in the last 15 years.
Ferguson (http://fergusonbrewing.com/)
Imperial IPA
Super hoppy and super malty…That is all
American Pale Ale
An American style pale ale using all Cascade hops at four different points in the boil. Well balanced with a nice malty mouth-feel and a citrus bite.
Belgian Pale Ale
An American Style Pale Ale but a Belgian Yeast is used instead bringing out more phenolic flavors in the beer.
Schlafly (http://www.schlafly.com/)
New Zealand IPA - 7.6% ABV, 50 IBUs
Similar to the Southern Hemisphere IPA, but brewed with exclusively Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand and Optic malt.
Urban Chestnut (http://urbanchestnut.com/home)
Calypso, Revolution Series (on cask)
Is our “Odyssey” IPA (Greek mythology fans know what we’re talking about). Single-hopped with the fruity (some pear, some apple) Calypso hop, this unique IPA is a ‘detainment’ of refreshment and enjoyably bitter fruit. ABV- 6.1%, IBU’s – 45, OG -14.2 Plato

I know we've got a lot of Civil Life Brewery fans here so let's get together and go have a few pints! No special event or anything, just a Friday night of enjoying beer.
Thanks to everyone who has joined recently, looking forward to seeing you there!
I heard about this event from Lauren at Dabble - sounds pretty rad. Check out the link for all the details but basically for $20, you get to hang out with the head fred at Alpha Brewing and learn all about their new line of sour beers. AND you get an Alpha tulip glass, hooray!
I'm not sure if you'll receive any continuing education credits but it is called a \"class\" so you will learn real actual knowledge which is pretty cool. There's only 9 spots left according to the website so get signed up!

The holiday season is all about sharing. Join us at Jayson and Susan Huddy’s house for a holiday bottle share and potluck. Please bring some beer (something unique or your favorites) and food to share.
Jayson will be opening a magnum of Doggie Claws by Hair of the Dog from Portland, Oregon that he bought in 2005. It could be amazing!
Space is limited so please be sure to RSVP if you are coming to this event!
Jayson and Susan live in Creve Coeur. Address to follow once you RSVP.
First off, thanks to everyone has recently joined up, really looking forward to meeting you all!
Dan had a great suggestion for this party celebrating the 7th Anniversary of STL Hops taking place at Urban Chestnut in the Grove. If you're interested, make sure you buy tix soon ($30-$40) as they note in their write up that it will sell out. More details here! http://stlhops.com/stl-hops-7th-anniversary-party/
Along with unlimited samples, live music, food trucks and the requisite commemorative glass, most of the proceeds will benefit the Stray Rescue. Pretty cool.
Thank you to David for the heads up on this one!
This first annual event is put on by Budweiser at BallPark Village with all kinds of cool stuff - live brewing demos, music, home brewing competition, those big, rad Clydesdales and food trucks!
Though Budweiser may not quite qualify as a craft brewer, they do put on top notch events and for $35 you get a sample glass and all the beer you can handle plus 5 food vouchers for restaurants in the village. And that whole Ballpark Village area is super cool in it's own right.
All of the St. Louis homebrew clubs will be there and did I mention the horses?
More info here http://www.stlballparkvillage.com/entertainment/event/2506
Join us at Steven’s house this Saturday, October 18th from 1-6 PM. Steven has graciously offered up his home for this brew event. He’ll be crafting a Northern English Brown Ale that he’d like to share! Awesome opportunity to see what goes into the brewing process!
He’s located up north, off Old Jamestown Road and will be cooking up a gumbo! Steven is from Louisiana so you probably don’t want to miss this.
Only requirement is to bring something to snack on and of course, beer to share.
Address to follow once you RSVP.
This Sunday afternoon at ITAP in Chesterfield, the homebrew competition Jayson is entering will be taking place in collaboration with 4 Hands.
When he wins, not only will 4 Hands brew the beer for ITAP, he'll get to kick it at the brewery! Winning indeed!
And surely a little hooting and hollering will influence the judging that much more. According to the event thing, this shindig will focus on beer, BBQ and music - sounds terrible - so don't miss it!

If you haven't yet been to the Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton, this should be a fun way to check it out. And if you have, even better! Along with having 700+ craft beers from near and far, they have a tasting area in the back with 4 or 5 rotating taps. https://craftbeercellar.com/clayton/
I reserved the space where we can do flights of the beers on tap for a whopping $6 per person. They'll also have fancy tasting notes cards so we can all practice being beer experts.
Also, they'll give everyone in the group 10% off everything in the store during the event. My favorite part of this place is that you can build your own 6 pack from anything on the shelves.
I'm asking for an RSVP a week in advance so I can give them a rough head count to prep for.
Hope to see you there!
Thanks to everyone who recently joined, looking forward to meeting you!
Our very own Dennis Groome has graciously offered to host an event this Friday at Bombshell Bar & Grill in St. Charles. Goose Island will be doing a tap takeover which is sure to be a good time!
Dennis - if you've got more details, go ahead and share.
Thanks!
Jayson and Susan are generously offering again to host an event this Saturday, September 20th from 3-8 PM. Jayson, our resident homebrew wizard, will be brewing up a Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout that he’ll enter into the ITAP – 4 Hands Homebrewing Competition! I suggest you’re there at 2:59 as I will be consuming the entire batch at 3:00, finished or not. Also, real beer knowledge will be shared!
Only requirement is to bring something to grill/eat and of course, beer to share.
Jayson and Susan live in Creve Coeur. Address to follow once you RSVP.
Susan and Jayson had a great suggestion for a tour of Alpha Brewing. The tour is $20 a person and they can accommodate up to 10 people per tour. There are already 4 slots reserved. The tour includes a sample flight and an additional pint and souvenir glass. If you're interested in the tour please go to Alpha's website and buy a ticket http://www.alphabrewingcompany.com/tour/ You can plug in \"Friday, Sept 5, 2014 - 7 PM\" for the time and date field so they know we're all from the same group. If you purchase tickets, please let me know here so I can update the number of available tour slots (currently 6).
If the tour fills up or you're not interested in it, Alpha does have a tasting room where you can order food to be delivered from nearby restaurants. Along with the pithy request for no beer-haters on tour they have an important one on there about no gluten intolerant guests due to the grain dust in the air.
P.S. Word is the City Museum next door has a pretty rad late night setup.
Just got an awesome FYI from Carolyn Noe (thank you!) of the Academy of Science St. Louis. This coming Tuesday, Aug 12 at 7 PM, they are presenting "Crafting Beer: The Science of Brewing" at the Missouri History Museum.
The featured speaker is Florian Kuplent, Co-Founder and Brewmaster at Urban Chestnut - VERY COOL. There is also an exhibit on hand "American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition"
This event is free and no registration is required. Hope to see you there!
Thanks to Cobrawolverine for the heads up on all the great STL Craft Beer Week events coming up. This one is August 3rd and does have a ticket fee ($25 before/$35 at the door) but has it all - delicious beer and food, music, games and CLOWNS.
Plus, this rad event is named after the lost Greek goddess of local beer (or so says the event page).
As the wrap up to the week of beer, this block party looks to be a can't miss event. See you there!

Thanks to everyone who has joined recently, it's greatly appreciated!
Scheduling the next event for this Schalfy annual festival http://schlafly.com/events/calendar/2014/07/18/mussel-festival-2014/
It's free to attend, they have mussels flown in from the west coast, live music, Van Damme movies and of course delicious beer. Does it really get any better?
And if you don't like mussels they have Belgian waffles - really pushing the Belgium theme which is just awesome.
Hope to see you there!
First off, thanks to everyone who has joined up recently, looking forward to meeting you!
Second, if you haven't already, go RSVP for the Homebrew & BBQ being hosted by Jayson and Susan this Saturday. Not only will there be beer but real, actual education - hooray!
Finally, I'm fairly certain this festival was created for this specific Meetup group so we sort of have to go. Plan is to go to the Friday session. Tickets are $35 ahead of time, $45 at the door. Please be sure to go here and read up on all the particulars http://stlbg.com/heritage-festival/
I'm putting 7 pm as the start time but doors open at 6. Having not been to this event before, I don't know where to meet so I'm all ears to input on that. When I get there, I'll find a good spot to set up shop and put a note here in the comments. But if you get there and haven't heard anything, please feel free to pick a spot and share here!
Just a quick recap: 23 breweries, 100 beers, 6 homebrew clubs, live music and food trucks. I may end up living there for the weekend but in the meantime, let's get a big group together and find some good beer!
Jayson and Susan are being EXTREMELY generous and offering to host an event this Saturday, June 7th. Jayson will be brewing up an IPA and firing up the grill. If you haven't had the chance yet, Jayson knows pretty much everything about beer so it will be a great opportunity to learn some real, actual knowledge!
Only requirement is to bring something to grill/eat and of course, beer to share!
This particular event has an RSVP limit of 8 and I've grabbed the first 2 tickets for my wife and I. So, I'll put it out there with the stipulation that we can accommodate the first 6 folks to RSVP.
Jayson and Susan live in Creve Coeur. Address to follow once we're all RSVP'ed up.
First off - thank you everyone who came to the official inauguration at Perennial. I really appreciate it and believe we stuck to the code of conduct with excessive laughing, lots of beer talk and real, actual learning (thank you Jayson).
Secondly; thank you to everyone who has joined before and since that event. I think we're off and running with a great group.
Third: it's time for the next meetup! Kristen made an excellent recommendation on the new Urban Chestnut location so that's where we're going, hooray!
Prepare yourself for, as new member Chad put so appropriately - beer?
Let's together for the first ever St. Louis Craft Beer Society Event (sounds very official, it's not). Perennial Artisan Ales has a great tasting room with some space to spread out. No real plan other than to get together, meet some new folks and enjoy good beer.
